Feeding Guide
- When introducing any new ration to horses, always introduce gradually over a 1-2 week period. Feed an appropriate level of pellets for your horse’s bodyweight (as a guide – ranging from 0.5-1.5kg/day at 300kg, 1.0-2.0kg/day at 400kg, 1.5-2.5kg/day at 500kg, 2.0-3.0kg/day at 600kg) along with a minimum of 1% of your horse’s bodyweight as forage (grassy hay or pasture) per day.
- Vary the amount of pellets fed with the condition of the horse, level of activity and with the seasonal availability and quality of hay and pasture. As a general rule, at least 50% of the weight of the daily diet for horses should be forage.
- Ensure that clean fresh water is available at all times.
