Feeding Guide
- Introduce pellets within the first week, while feeding liquid milk.
- Commence with small daily amounts (up to 500g/calf/day), removing any uneaten feed from the previous day and ensure fresh supply daily.
- Continue to feed to appetite, and when intake on 3 consecutive days exceeds 2.0kg per calf per day, weaning off milk can commence - at 50-60 days of age.
- Introduce a free-choice roughage source (conserved forage, straw etc) within the first week to encourage rumen volume and muscle tone development and encourage salivation and leave it available.
- Ensure potable water is available at all times.
