WagyuEdge 2023: Learning The Latest From An Evolving Wagyu Industry

Our Senior Ruminant Specialist Glen Whitton and Territory Sales Manager Tony Grob had the great opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the wagyu industry at this week’s WagyuEdge 2023.

The Australian Wagyu Association held their annual conference in Sydney from Wednesday, April 19 through to Friday, April 21 at Hyatt Regency Sydney with record-breaking attendance with about 600 delegates.

“Glen and I had a great time catching up with so many of our customers and some potential clients on the first day,” Tony said.

“The second day was very insightful with plenty of great speakers covering a range of topics from market trends, global innovations, future opportunities and more.”

Riverina Stockfeeds showed their support for WagyuEdge 2023 as the event’s coffee partner, sponsoring the coffee cart.   

While there were fantastic panels during the day, the conference continued through into the evenings with the 2023 Wagyu Branded Beef Competition on the first night where Kilcoy Global Foods was crowned as Grand Champion.

Attendees witnessed the sale of elite animals and genetics from around the world during the 2023 Elite Wagyu Sale on the second night.

The final night put the finishing touches on a terrific conference with the Wagyu Industry Dinner

With fantastic panels over the three days, the conference also had the 2023 Wagyu Branded Beef Competition, 2023 Elite Wagyu Sale, and the Wagyu Branded Beef Awards along with tours of NSW wagyu operations Kuro Kin Wagyu, Bald Ridge Wagyu, and Gooree Park Mudgee.  

Tony said a key takeaway was the importance of staying receptive and responsive to changing and evolving market trends.  

“With a record amount of attendance for this year’s conference is a testimony of how progressive and dynamic the wagyu industry is,” Tony said.
